Eloise Butler
Selected Writings

PDF format book

Selected Writings: Once the Garden was established in 1907, Eloise began writing about it. Some of her essays were published in various periodicals, newspapers and many were included in the bulletins of the Gray Memorial Botanical Chapter, division D, of the Agassiz Association. These 32 essays begin with a short autobiography and progress to describing events that occurred in the Garden or on plant hunting excursions; some are observations on the characteristics of plants. Her intent was to group them into several series under titles such as "Annals of the Wild Life Reserve,” but she never did. Also included in the book are her 22 1911 newspaper columns about the seasonal progression of flowering plants. All the writings include contemporary color photos related to the topic.

If printed double sided, it is in book format - 8-1/2 x 11 size pages. This file will view correctly in Adobe Reader or similar program. Text edited by Gary Bebeau.
